There’s nothing quite like getting cozy with your kids and enjoying a family movie together. And when you combine dark winter nights and special holiday occasions, it’s even better when it’s a family fun event from the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF)! This Christmas, VIFF brings you a brand-new adventure from an iconic claymation duo. From December 18, 2024, to January 2, 2025, it’s time for Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
We first met Wallace & Gromit, the ingenious tinkerer and his empathetic dog, 35 years ago, with their mixture of dry humour and subtle jokes, slapstick, and mock dramatics. But now they are back, in Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl! From the legendary animation studio Aardman, comes a rollicking, family adventure for all ages. Tickets are just $10 for children and youth under 18. (While there is a content warning for claymation violence, the movie is rated G.)
These days, Gromit is justified in his concern that Wallace is becoming too dependent on his own inventions. Wallace has invented a “smart” gnome — but it has developed a mind of its own! They discover a vengeful figure from the past might be masterminding things, so it’s up to Gromit to battle sinister forces and save his master. Will Wallace ever be able to invent again?!
Give yourself a break from the busy season and enjoy the moments with your kids. Get your tickets today for an easy escape into a gentle adventure with this special VIFF Christmas offering.
Through the art of cinema, VIFF encourages the understanding and celebration of cultures and the human condition. They are the home of film and film culture in Western Canada.
