You’ll have a jolly good time at Winter Wonderland, presented by the Children’s Museum of Skagit County. Every year, the Children’s Museum of Skagit County creates a winter wonderland at Burlington Plaza for families to enjoy. Metro Vancouver families are invited to experience this FREE 3-day festival that has activities for every member of your family.

If you are in need of a mini-getaway, this is the perfect solution for you. Just a mere 1.5 hours south of Vancouver awaits the Winter Wonderland festival. The Winter Wonderland event is rather epic and boasts a ton of indoor and outdoor activities. If snow is on your Christmas list, you will have the chance to play in real snow trucked in from the mountains! Hop on a sled and have a little fun, learn about snowshoeing, check out one of the Snowmobiles from Northwest Glacier Cruisers or see Sled Dogs from NW Sled Dog Association on Saturday. If you have little ones in your crew, they can partake in the sledding fun as well with a little bunny hill to practice on in the toddler snow area. Once you have your snow fun, check out one of the other great outdoor activities or meet your favourite winter princesses or snap a picture with Captain America. Oh, and did we mention the most magical part of all? Live reindeer from Reindeer Express will be on site every day for families to learn about reindeer habits and take pictures of these majestic creatures up close and personal.

Defrost your fingers and toes as you head indoors for more family fun with activities such as arts and crafts, face painting, a dance demonstration, curling, and even a simulated snowboarding area! Warm up your arms by playing Zorb ball or ski ball, and then test your stamina in the 3-lane bungee run. After all this physical activity, take a chance to rest by learning snow science from the NW Avalanche Centre or letting your toddler play in a safely contained Toddler Area. There are performances by dance groups, magicians, and jugglers on each of the three days to keep your whole family entertained!

As you can imagine, the Children’s Museum of Skagit County’s Winter Wonderland is incredibly popular. So while the event is free to attend, families are required to register DAILY for a new wristband. This helps the organizers keep track of attendance and enables them to plan for the coming years.

*Please note that admission to the Children’s Museum of Skagit County is not included with the free wristband. Regular admission rates apply.*
