Resiliency, critical thinking skills, and curiosity are the skills students most need to use to be successful in an ever-changing and evolving world, and at Mindset Math, those skills are valued and taught explicitly in a fun and creative atmosphere.
At Mindset Math, a growth mindset is encouraged by creating engaging STEM tasks that utilize the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math led by qualified instructors. With a combination of Singapore Math instruction, Question Formulation Technique, and hands-on exploration, students take control of their learning and are better able to understand and apply new skills that may or may not be taught in a traditional classroom setting. With a strong understanding of STEM techniques, students develop confidence in their abilities, can easily implement problem-solving skills, and can apply creative solutions to the tasks given– all of which translate to increased success in the classroom. Mindset Math educators employ a balance between direct and guided instruction to provide students with the skills necessary to understand the concepts and enough time to practice, create and tinker with their projects to learn in an interactive format. Regular and direct feedback is given to both students and parents in order to continually improve and adjust throughout the process.
Mindset Math classes are only $90 for a 2-hour session. During each session, 1 hour is dedicated to Math and begins with math puzzles, followed by direct Math instruction, and ends with some practice time to hone their knowledge and skill set. The second half of the class is dedicated to STEM projects which can either be completed in one lesson or can span over many weeks depending on the complexity. STEM education includes everything from coding, engineering challenges, real-world problems, 3D printing, building and programming robots, and science experiments. Each class is small so students receive personalized instruction and assistance every step of the way.
