The Cinematheque was founded in 1972 and is a film institute that is dedicated to the art and history of cinema and screen-based media. They carefully curate film exhibitions, both Canadian and International, to provide a meaningful, communal experience. With this in mind, families will want to know about The Cinematheque Film Club.
Film Club is a movie matinee series designed specifically for families. The family-friendly films are shown at The Cinematheque at 10:30 am on the third Sunday of each month. The programming team carefully selects titles that are appropriate for all ages, from the classics everyone should see to delightful new favourites.
The Cinematheque welcomes the next generation of cinema-goers with practical considerations, too! Junior cinephiles (ages 13 and under) enjoy movies for the discounted price of $6, plus free popcorn and a Film Club badge. New for 2024 is a special, discounted price for a parent or guardian and a child under 13. The two of you can attend Film Club for only $16, and you’ll enjoy free coffee or tea!
