Oh boy, oh boy are my kids going to be excited! Disney + has decided to release Artemis Fowl (originally scheduled for the theatres in August 2019, but was bumped to May 2020) now. My eldest son read all of the books last year. My youngest has been tearing through the books knowing that his mean-ol’-mom won’t let him see the movie until he’s read the books. He’s on book 5, so maybe I should get down off my high horse and allow him to see the movie.

Artemis Fowl

Here is Disney’s description of the movie adaptation:

In this fantastical, spellbinding adventure, 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl (Shaw), a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, embarks on a journey to find his father (Farrell), who has mysteriously disappeared. With the help of his loyal protector Butler (Anozie), Artemis sets out to find him, and in doing so uncovers an ancient, underground civilization—the amazingly advanced world of fairies. Deducing that his father’s disappearance is somehow connected to the secretive, reclusive fairy world, cunning Artemis concocts a dangerous plan—so dangerous that he ultimately finds himself in a perilous war of wits with the all-powerful fairies.

The official release date for Artemis Fowl on Disney + was revealed on April 20th. You can start streaming this much-anticipated movie on Disney + as of June 12th.
