Watching the Olympics is neat, but watching them with a crowd of families and sharing in the excitement and the experience of high-level athletes competing can be exhilarating! Those of us who were lucky enough to be in attendance for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic events or viewing parties might remember the community spirit of gathering with people from around your neighbourhood and around the world to watch history being made, and we want to share that experience (albeit on a smaller scale) with our kids.
Whether you have a child who is interested in competing in the Olympics one day or just want to catch a few events, a few fun viewing parties are happening around Metro Vancouver so you can cheer on Team Canada during the 2024 Paris Olympics from July 26-August 11.
Richmond:
Visit the Richmond Oval from 9am-11pm each day to watch Olympic events. The theatre will be used to broadcast events, and each television set throughout the complex will be showing the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Vancouver:
Courtside on Main is hosting viewing parties for the Olympic men’s and women’s basketball games in their incredible basketball-themed bar. Kids *are* allowed in this establishment. The men’s team is up first on July 27, followed by the women on July 30.
Wesbrook Village at UBC is hosting FREE viewing parties on a big screen from July 26-August 11. Stay tuned for the exact streaming schedule, and be sure to pack a blanket or chair to lounge in!
