North Toronto Soccer — Summer Camps (Ages 4-12)
Kids can have a *ball* at North Toronto Soccer’s Summer Camps, over nine one-week camps that are full of fun on the soccer field! Taught by top-notch coaches, these camps introduce kids to soccer in a fun, safe environment. Even better, all players aged 4-12 are welcome, no matter their soccer skill or experience level. Each participant learns about teamwork and enjoys an active lifestyle to build their skills and confidence. As a perfect accompaniment to the camps’ soccer instruction, the coaches make sure all the kids get to laugh, play, and learn together and make new friends!
Level Programs:
- Ages 4-5 (Mornings Only) — For the youngest soccer players, this summer camp runs in the mornings only. This camp features a combination of park time, indoor time, some free time, and plenty of soccer! Accordingly, the camp balances soccer lessons with park time so the kids can cool off and socialize. Plus, coaches give the campers the freedom to play, run, jump, and climb!
- Ages 6-8 (Full-Day or Half-Day) — This is the first level with both morning or full-day options. Mornings include instructed soccer activities plus extra time for other kinds of sports and games in the late morning. There is a strong focus on dribbling skills with the ball at this stage of soccer development. In addition, full-day campers spend time at the outdoor community pool for a supervised free swim to cool off and refresh!
- Ages 9-12 (Full-Day or Half-Day) — As the players progress, they focus their time and soccer lessons to develop their game. Lessons also include structured small-sided games at this level. This allows the young players to start using their skills in game scenarios.
Summer Recreation League (Ages 4-16)
Along with summer camps, North Toronto Soccer runs a weekly Summer Recreation Program that provides a fun and safe team-based environment for kids to play soccer. Therefore, the participants build social connections while maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. Sessions take place once a week for one hour, dividing participants into age groups/genders to encourage fun and maximize development.
Additionally, North Toronto Soccer has a friend request policy to enhance the kids’ soccer experience. Participants can submit friend requests during registration, so to make sure they have fun in a supportive environment. With this policy, everyone can fully have fun playing recreational soccer with their friends by their side!
Level Programs:
- Ages 4-6 — Kids and parents have fun on the pitch together, where the youngest players learn the basics of the game of soccer. Taking place in a non-competitive environment, this age-appropriate curriculum focuses on physical literacy and motor skills.
- Ages 7-8 — Young soccer lovers play in a fun and safe environment, regardless of their background or previous experience. Also, players get to practice their individual techniques, such as dribbling, passing, and shooting.
- Age 9-12 — In this league, players focus on creating connections with the other players and staying active. Each team plays against a different team in every session to create balanced competition and maximize the active experience for players.
- Ages 13-16 — Regardless of experience level, teens are welcome join the Recreational League. This league allows the players to play against other teens in an exciting environment.
North Toronto Soccer Summer Academy (Ages 7-13+)
The North Toronto Nitros Academy, located at Eglinton Park, offers the ideal environment for experienced players to become better athletes this summer! Players can get to know the Nitros staff and find out more about the North Toronto Soccer programs offered. Lessons balance personal leadership with in-depth soccer skills, techniques and tactics. Meanwhile, the excellent coaches teach the participants about professionalism and confidence.
Each age group attends the Academy on specific weeks to create the best environment for players. Along with alternative soccer activities like soccer tennis and World Cup, there is a focus on soccer training and multi-sport opportunities throughout the week.
- U7-U12 Academy — Conducted in two training sessions before lunch, players also get to rest and recover with free time. After lunch, players participate in scrimmages in an unstructured and relaxed environment, and do other soccer activities as well.
- U13+ Academy — With two training sessions of 1.5 hours, players can have a snack and some free time to recover before their second training session of the day. The day ends with some Small-Sided Games to wrap up the day on a competitive note.
- Goalkeeper Week — During Goalkeeper Week, U8-U12 and U13+ players alternate days so the staff can work with each age group and so the players can rest between lessons. During the off days, players work on further soccer skills that ensures they get a balanced mix of instruction, development and fun.
- Position-Specific Week — Working on various techniques for different positions, coaches determine the most appropriate groupings to maximize players’ development. Players decide which position to focus on during the Position-Specific Week, such as Defenders, Midfielders or Forwards.
