Let your budding star get creative with March Break Camp fun at Great Big Theatre Company! With locations across the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario, GBTC day camps stimulate and challenge campers of all age levels. Kids and teens aged 6-14 work together through improvisation, theatre games, stagecraft and performance, culminating in an end-of-week performance!
In this exciting March Break Camp program, the young performers explore their vocal, physical and emotional potential through fun and creative games. GBTC’s enthusiastic staff members create a helpful and non-competitive environment so all participants can participate fully and equally. In addition, everyone feels seen and supported because the camper-to-staff ratio is low.
Drama teaches kids how to dream big and feel free to become a new character, which helps build their self-esteem. Campers make new friends with common interests. The cooperative element of drama helps develop teamwork and trust and, needless to say, the participants have lots of fun too!
GBTC March Break Theatre Camp (Ages 6-14)
Does your child have an interest in the dramatic arts? Whether they hope to “trod the boards” as a career or just like to play around, drama training is sure to aid their personal development. The campers learn many new skills, including communication, self-presentation skills and physical coordination. Therefore, they also discover talents they never knew they had!
At Great Big Theatre Company, they believe that drama education can benefit every child! Their March Break Camp program provides a weeklong schedule that is jam-packed with fun, including plays, mime, improvisation, musical theatre, plus sets and costumes. Furthermore, participants stay active and busy all week with collaborative and engaging activities, such as:
- Drama games
- Improvisation
- Art projects
- Plays and scenes
- Music
- Movement activities
- And even dance parties!
Throughout the week, campers develop their performance skills and confidence as they work together to assemble an exciting end-of-week presentation. Working together within their age groups and also across age levels, everyone does their part to bring the show together, such as creating sets, and simple costumes and props. Then, they perform the show for their friends, parents and relatives to showcase what they have learned! With much anticipation, the final performance includes skits and a musical number with simple choreography and group vocals.
