My son and I had a blast attending a Flower U-Pick at Robertson Valley Farm. We went earlier this week and had so much fun. We were hosted by the amazing people at Robertson Valley Farm. They gave us the buckets and flower cutters, explained the process, and then let us explore the beauty of the flowers. It’s hard for me to put this into words (even though it’s my job) but it felt like not only were we surrounded by the calm and peace of the flowers and nature but also by the kindness of the crew from Robertson Valley Farm. As we picked and explored, they made sure we were having a good time and made sure to stop and help or talk.
If you’ve never been to Robertson Valley Farm, they are located at 380 Valley Road. We arrived at 10 am and there was a line-up of cars waiting to stop by the store. They have a farm stand full of amazing (and delicious) vegetables and fruit as well as goods from local producers. It’s worth a visit just for the store and from the lineup of people waiting, I know others agree.
I don’t know if we even saw all the flowers because they had so many to choose from and we LOVED all of them. Every turn we made, we came upon more flowers, more choices, more beauty and more uniqueness. We saw new kinds of flowers and were grateful that people were around to tell us what we were looking at. My son picked some flowers that had a bee living in them and was happy to have help getting the sleepy little guy out.
As we wandered around, my son was full of questions and amazement. I love that things like flower picking can be made into a wonderful activity for us. Both of us finished up feeling so happy about our morning.
As we finished up, they helped us wrap them and we headed home to put them in vases. We stopped by the store to pick up cherries, peaches, cucumbers and some delightful homemade popsicles to help cool us off.
If you’re interested in a flower U-pick, they’ve got drop-in times available to book and they also have a Flower Child – Kid’s U-Pick opportunities. The next one is this Monday – August 7, 2023. We’ve got some wonderful days left of summer and if you’re looking for something great for your kids to do outside, stop by Robertson Valley Farm! You can check picking times here.
