My son and I started our holiday with Cirque du Soleil: Corteo. It is at Sasktel Centre from December 21 to 24, 2023 and it was everything we wanted and more. This was our second Cirque du Soleil show and we fell in love with it as much as the first one. We’re already planning for the next show. The show started at 7:30 – which is usually when bedtime starts but my son was a trooper and eagerly watched and cheered through the entire show. He fell asleep before we got out of the parking lot.

In our Christmas attire and waiting for the show to start.
We arrived early so we could find our spots and get all our pre-show snacks ready. You can’t take this kid to a show without getting some popcorn and a drink. We enjoyed watching all the people wandering around, excited about the show and happy to get out of the house.

Magic and laugher
Cirque du Soleil: Corteo is the perfect combination of magical performances and comedic excellence. I asked my son what his favourite moment was, expecting him to mention one of the acts and he told me he enjoyed the funny moments. Corteo follows Mauro, a nostalgic clown. He dreams about his funeral in a carnival atmosphere and looks back on his experiences.

About to bounce through the audience.
One of our favourite moments was the various parts of the audience participation. The best being when this woman bounced into the audience and we kept her up with our hands. She went past us but the second she swooped into the crowd, my son set his drink down and was ready to help keep her in the air.

Amazement
For the most part, we sat in amazement watching these powerful and wonderful performers with extraordinary skills. Every once in a while, my son would say, “I want to do that!” and then he’d say, “NO, wait! I want to learn how to do that!” The great thing about a Cirque du Soleil show is that it isn’t just the little ones who watch in awe – it’s everyone. My son and I were left with the biggest smiles on our faces. We clapped, we laughed, and we felt great gratitude for a wonderful night out. Thank you Cirque du Soleil for the absolute greatest start to our holidays.
