A Dream Come True
I have always dreamed of swimming with dolphins and I finally got to cross this particular item off my bucket list during our family holiday in Mexico. There is no shortage of places to swim with dolphins in the area. The Mayan Riviera is known for being one of the best places in the world to meet and greet these incredible creatures, but how do you choose which place to go? Thankfully we were advised Dolphin Discovery in Puerto Aventuras would be ideal for our family because they have a unique program called the Dolphin Encounter, designed specifically for young children. We had a three year old and a seven year old in tow and thought a gentle first introduction would be the perfect option. Our kids would get to meet baby dolphins and pregnant dolphins who are a little less energetic than their counterparts found in the other programs. Well, that was the plan anyway.

Being Adventurous
I’m not sure what happened but instead we ended up in the Dolphin Swim Adventure program rather than the entry level Dolphin Encounter. I think the staff recognized that my plucky little three year old girl would prefer a bit of excitement over calm. They weren’t wrong, not by a long shot! I’m glad we ended up in the Dolphin Swim Adventure because this trip for us was all about adventure and stepping out of our comfort zones.

Creating Lifelong Memories
After being pushed on a boogey board at exhilarating speeds, holding and getting kisses from a dolphin, dancing with and riding on one, this day will be memory our family will cherish forever. I think that seeing your children interact this way with these gentle and remarkable animals is one of the richest rewards we as parents get.

After our swim, we kicked back at the Manati Snack Bar on the pier and enjoyed the yummy lunch that was included in the price. This was an unforgetable family adventure!
