Summer break is a great time to branch out and have fun trying something new! For the musically inclined, Sensational Sounds Summer Camps at the Winspear are the perfect opportunity to learn to play an instrument from scratch and have some hands-on musical fun this July.
Summer Day Camps at the Winspear Centre are open to ages 6 to 12 and offer your choice of violin, flute, or brass instruction. During the camp week, each day will include ample time for learning and playing the instrument of choice, plus art activities, outdoor play, and games. Your budding musician will get to enjoy the benefits of spending time in a world-class performance space with tours of the Winspear Centre, possible interactions with professional musicians, and the opportunity to listen to the incredible concert organ. It will be five fantastic days of musical exploration, games, and new friends!
Each camp is led by a friendly, musical professional from the Winspear team and offers a mix of group instruction and individualized support. Nathan Chan will take the reigns on the violin, Natalie Boisvert will provide the perfect introduction to the flute, and Stephanie Jolly is ready to lead the charge on the trumpet and other brass instruments. Camps will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. No experience is necessary and all musical instruments will be provided. To wrap up the week-long experience, the young musicians will take part in an exciting concert showcase to share what they have learned with family and friends.

Learn the fundamentals for playing the flute, including breathing activities, tone games, finger exercises, active listening, ear training, and more. - Brass & Art Camp | July 22-26, 2024
Discover the trumpet and other members in the brilliant brass family. Fundamental brass techniques that will be covered include buzzing and basic fingerings, note reading and composition, and exploring brass instruments in different musical genres.
