How about a round of mini golf this Summer? The Putting Horse Ranch is the perfect outing whether you are wanting to practice your long putt, or just have a little fun with the family! This family-run ranch just North of Spruce Grove offers horse experiences, event rentals, and a well-maintained 18-hole putting course.
Our family loved that the Putting Horse Ranch course is not your traditional mini golf course with colorful obstacles and crazy theming (although we love those too!) This course has the look and feel of a more traditional golf course, with extra long putts and challenges brought from the natural slope of the landscape. I definitely found it a lot more challenging without bumpers to bounce my ball off of and spent a lot of time trying to chip out of the grass. I did not calculate my final score, but I know it was well above the par 70!
We went on a beautiful sunny day and really enjoyed being out in the country surrounded by open fields and horses. The course is beautifully landscaped with a trickling waterfall, plus a pond halfway through that is home to the two resident swans. It was a fun bonus to be able to stop and admire these beautiful birds’ close-up.
You can choose to bring your own putter and ball to play with, or they will set you up with one of the many putters and balls they have on hand. It takes about an hour to complete the full 18 holes and there is an outdoor patio and concession available to enjoy after your time on the course. You can pay for your green fees ahead of time on the Putting Horse Ranch website, or simply stop in and pay to walk-on like we did.
Be sure to also check out the full range of horse experiences offered on the website. The Ranch is open year-round for riding lessons, horse time and wagon rides!
