Once the excitement of Halloween night is over and the jack-o-lantern candle has been blown out, what do you do with your pumpkin? We have found a few fun (and sustainable!) ways to dispose of them at Pumpkin Walks & Smashes in the days following the spooky night.

Soraya Hafez Community Playground Pumpkin Walk
Soraya Hafez Community Playground will line the paths with pumpkins during the 4th annual Pumpkin Walk! Bring your own mug for free hot chocolate and empty bottle and can donations for the new playground. Pumpkins will be donated to a farm for the animals.

Lansdowne Community League Pumpkin Walk
Lansdowne Community League is hosting their 3rd Annual Pumpkin Walk! Bring your pumpkins and a mug for hot chocolate. There will be draw prizes and extra Halloween candy will be collected for YESS. All pumpkins will go to the University of Alberta Farm for compost.

Highlands Pumpkin Walk 2024
Highlands Community League is happy to accept your jack-o-lanterns for their 4th annual Pumpkin Walk! Come admire all the lit up pumpkins along the path, then leave your pumpkin to be donated to feed farm rescue animals. Free hot chocolate will be available in the hall for the first 100 people.

Strathcona County Pumpkin Drop
The Strathcona County Pumpkin Drop for Muscular Dystrophy is your chance to drop a pumpkin from the 4th floor of the fire station’s hose tower! For a donation you can come watch your jack-o-lantern smash to the ground, plus enjoy fun activities and refreshments with the Emergency Services team, including Sparky the fire dog.

Compost School Pumpkin Smash 2024
Compost School invites you to bring them to a fun Pumpkin Smash event in Borden Park on Saturday, November 2, 2024. You can smash, bash, and drop your pumpkin while learning more about how it can be turned into compost.
