Lunar New Year Celebrations at Londonderry Mall

January 26 | Everyone is welcome to join the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Education Association at Londonderry Mall for a celebration welcoming in the Year of the Snake. During the Lunar New Year celebration, you can enjoy lion dances, art & crafts, games, martial arts demos, the wishing tree, and more!


The Red Envelope Gala

January 18 | Welcome in the Lunar New Year with the Red Envelope Gala at the Lago Lindo Community Hall! This annual festive event includes a spectacular lion dance to usher in good luck and prosperity, vibrant cultural performances, family-friendly activities, and an innovative red envelope community exchange! Everyone welcome.


Celebrate Lunar New Year with the NDP Caucus

January 23 | Join the NDP Caucus at Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour School for a fun community-focused Lunar New Year celebration! Festivities will include food, performances, and family-friendly activities. Everyone welcome!


Chinese New Year Kids Carnival

January 25 | Celebrate the joy and culture of Chinese New Year with an exciting Kids Carnival! Admission is just $10/family to enjoy 20 unique game stations like Animal Bowling and Rainbow Whack-a-Mole, plus a showcase of kid-friendly performances, and photo ops with a giant Strawberry Bear.


Lunar New Year Extravaganza at West Edmonton Mall

January 25 & 26 | Ring in the Year of the Snake at the Lunar New Year Extravaganza at West Edmonton Mall! Everyone is invited to join in two full days of Lion Dancers, Chinese cultural performances, art displays, a marketplace, and more! Admission is just $2 or a food donation for the Edmonton Food Bank.


Edmonton’s Chinatown Lunar New Year Celebration

January 26 | Welcome in the Year of the Snake with special performances and cultural traditions in Edmonton’s Chinatown and at the Royal Alberta Museum. This year’s Lunar New Year Celebration will kick off with an opening ceremony with firecrackers in front of Lucky 97 (11 AM), a lion and dragon dance parade along 97 Street, and an afternoon of cultural performances, crafts, vendors, photo booth fun, face painting, and caricatures at the Royal Alberta Museum (12 PM – 4 PM).


Lunarlicious by AsiaFest

January 31 – February 2 | AsiaFest invites you to celebrate the Year of the Snake with the Lunarlicious festival. This Lunar New Year indoor fair at South Edmonton Common will feature a Lucky Bowl Dinner (must reserve ahead), live music and performances, kids’ activities, cultural experiences, a youth market, and an array of delicious food vendors!


Lunar New Year Celebration at Kingsway Mall

February 1 | Celebrate the Year of the Snake with the spectacular Lunar New Year Celebration at Kingsway Mall! The Chinese Graduate Association of Alberta is hosting this vibrant event starting with the Lion Dance parade through the mall at 11:15 AM, followed by a full afternoon of activities to showcase Chinese culture and Arts including live music and performances, games, crafts, and workshops!


Togather Chinatown Arts Festival

February 1 & 2 | Gather with family and friends to celebrate at the Togather Chinatown Arts Festival. This free admission family-friendly event at the Edmonton Chinatown Multi-Cultural Centre will include a Lion Dance at 1 pm each day, live musical performances, kids activities, face-painting, cultural workshops, delicious eats at the Chinatown food court, Chinatown tours, and a market of 38+ local artists.


Year of the Snake Celebration at West Edmonton Mall

February 2 | Join the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Education Association outside T&T Supermarket (Level Two, Phase III) to enjoy Chinese drum, Chinese harp, martial arts, and Lion Dance performances, plus a lucky red envelope giveaway!


Strathearn Community League Lunar New Year Celebration

February 8 | This free festive event is presented in partnership with the Edmonton Taiwanese Association and Alberta School of Kung Fu and includes a Lion Dance, martial arts demos, music, calligraphy, crafts, food, tea, and more.
