The Legislative Assembly of Alberta is open for you to discover! Visitors of all ages can learn about Alberta’s legislative process through free in-person guided tours. Make it a day of fun with the family by booking a tour of the Legislature Building and spending time together exploring the beautifully landscaped Legislature grounds and nearby Visitor Centre.
Alberta Legislature Building Guided Tours
Beginning in the Legislature rotunda, friendly and knowledgeable tour guides are ready to welcome and show you through the spectacular architecture and art of the building. The 45 minute tour will cover informative topics related to Alberta’s governance, political history and parliamentary tradition and let you see first-hand where the laws are made for the province. It is fun and informative for all ages!
Tours will be available throughout the summer every Wednesday to Sunday, and on holiday Mondays. Book your tour anytime between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
Space is limited and registration is required to book your tour. Tours can be reserved in-person or online through Legislative Assembly of Alberta website.
Visitor Centre
The Legislative Assembly’s interactive Visitor Centre is located just North of the Legislature Building, on the main floor of the Queen Elizabeth II Building. Admission is free and no advance registration is required to stop in and discover the Borealis Gallery, Capital Gifts, the Democracy Discovery Centre, and Pehonan Theatre.
- Don’t miss the 15 minute film Our People, Our Province being shown on the 360-degree screen in the Pehonan Theatre. This unique 4D experience will take you on an immersive journey through Alberta’s social and political history!
- Check with staff to discover the schedule of fun drop-in programs! Visitor’s can enjoy a variety of quick 15 minute activities and demonstrations that will help you learn more about Alberta’s democracy, history, and culture.
- Discover Service, Ceremony and Tradition, The Diamond Jubilee Portrait in Alberta in The Borealis Gallery. This exhibit has been held over until September 2, 2024 and includes the official diamond jubilee portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, unveiled at Buckingham Palace in 2012 in celebration of the 60th year of her reign.
