Bundle up and enjoy your next movie experience in the great outdoors during the 7th Annual International Festival of Winter Cinema on February 9-18, 2024! The family-friendly film fest has partnered with the Silver Skate Festival once again to bring winter fun to an all-new location in Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park.
The 2024 festival promises a snowload of excitement during 10 full days of winter-themed films and art installations. Pack your chairs and blankets and cozy up in the one-of-a-kind snow theatre to join in the celebration of winter, mountain sports, polar, indigenous, and local films. Where else can you gather around the fire and watch a movie in the park on a screen made of snow?
The International Festival of Winter Cinema is proud to be the world’s only free outdoor winter film festival, showcasing the work of local and international artists. The schedule offers something for film fanatics of all ages, including short film nights, the best of local films, winter sports films, videogames, and a unique visual-sound installation by Gary James Joynes! The 2024 IFWC will also feature Indigenous perspectives through special screenings like Tautuktavuk (What We See), Kajanaqtuq, and more.
All film showings are open to all and free to attend. You can learn more about the festival and find descriptions of all the featured works at www.ifwc.ca. Start planning now and don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate winter cinema in a breathtaking winter landscape!
