Holiday Programming

Visit the Science Centre this December to make some amazing scientific discoveries and get everyone into the holiday spirit!

  • Discover the enchantment and hexagonal beauty of Mathematically Accurate Snowflakes as you craft your own winter wonders.
  • Delight your senses with the comforting scents and sounds of winter at Jingle Smells in Health Zone.
  • Create your own Sliceform Winter Ornaments and Holiday Squeezies with the Merry Makers in STEAMengine.
  • Stop into the Winter Wonderland in STEAMengine and create something from decorations and cardboard to add to Mayor Ducky’s City of Winter.
  • Check the holiday schedule to take part in Winter Science Storytime or an extra sweet Crushed Candy Cane Ice Cream science demonstration.
  • Venture into Arctic Journey to craft Arctic Holiday Cards as you discover Inuit traditions and witness the the magic of the Northern Lights.
  • Bring your youngest explorers (6 and under) to learn about animal tracks and winter adaptations with Winter Wildlife in CuriousCITY.

You can find these activities, plus all the usual galleries and exhibits, every Saturday and Sunday in December and every day during the Holiday Break (December 23 to January 7, closed Christmas Day December 25). Please note activities may vary by day.

See Laser Holiday Magic
Get cozy under the Ziedler Dome and enjoy a selection of holiday tunes brought to life with vibrant laser choreography! Watch images dance over top of you as you sing along to familiar favourites like Jingle Bell Rock, Up on the Housetop, Let It Snow and Winter Wonderland. Included with your regular Science Centre admission.

Catch a Movie in the IMAX Theatre
The Polar Express is a fan favourite at this time of year, but there are always several other options playing on TELUS World of Science – Edmonton’s impressive 4 storey x 6 storey screen! During your visit, be sure to catch one of the many science and nature inspired movies playing throughout the day. Additional ticket purchase is required – see the full schedule here.

Noon Years Eve
On December 31, 2023 and January 1, 2024 you can ring in the “NOON” year with TELUS World of Science – Edmonton. Enjoy live science experiments on the Syncrude Science Stage at noon, including the Science Centre’s unique version of fireworks.  (Hint: it involves 12 colorful hydrogen balloons!) Included with your regular Science Centre admission.
