This holiday season, we are thrilled to see several local Greenhouses adding to the Christmas magic with special Events and seasonal activities. From Santa photos and sleigh rides to scavenger hunts and grouchy visits with the Grinch, there is something fun for everyone!
Local greenhouses and nurseries are some of the best spots to find Holiday Cheer! Growing up, I loved when my mom would take us to admire the beautifully decorated Christmas trees and enjoy the rich smells of pine and holly in the air.

Photos with Santa & Friends at Salisbury Greenhouse
November 16 & 17 | Things will be extra festive at both Salisbury Greenhouse locations when Santa comes to visit! Visit Sherwood Park on November 16 or St. Albert on November 17 for professional photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Grinch ($10 per family first come, first serve), music, and other holiday fun! Well behaved pets also welcome.
Classic Gardens Acorn Festival
November 30 | Celebrate the Season with Classic Gardens during their free Acorn Festival on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Enjoy sweet sounds from local choirs, visits with Santa, crafts, and festive treats! Special guests will also include a grinchy green visitor, and the queen of Arendelle.
Creekside Christmas Event
November 30 | Meet Santa, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, and pick out a fresh-cut tree during the family-friendly Christmas Event at Creekside Home and Garden. This family-operated Greenhouse in West Edmonton is the perfect spot to shop for all your seasonal decorating needs!
Find Santa on the Kiwi Nurseries Christmas Walk
December 7 | Kiwi Nurseries invites you to come discover their snow-covered trails and enjoy an outdoor visit with Santa in his sleigh! Book your tickets ahead for just $10/child and look forward to fun interactions with colorful Christmas characters, hot chocolate, and a take-home craft. Don’t forget your phone or camera to snap your own photos!
Greenland Garden Centre County Christmas
December 8 | This holiday event in support of the Strathcona Christmas Bureau will include hay rides, kid’s crafts, face painting, cookie decorating, a marshmallow roast, and SANTA! (Some activities by Loonie and Toonie donation).
Greenland Garden Centre Lights in The Park
November 1 – January 1 | The botanical garden at Greenland Garden Centre will once again transform into a magical Christmas display straight out of the movie Elf – complete with narwhals and polar bears! Come explore the pathways and shimmering lights during Lights in the Park – admission this year will be $5 per couple or $10 per family in support of the Strathcona Christmas Bureau and The Salvation Army. Well behaved dogs on leash are also welcome and a food truck will be available on site.
Salisbury Greenhouse Scavenger Hunt
Ongoing | Did you know both Salisbury Greenhouse locations have a new and different scavenger hunt for the kids each month? Grab the hunt sheet from the front checkout and have fun searching for the hidden images throughout the greenhouse! Once completed, kids are invited to turn their hunt sheet in for a FREE 2.5″ herb plant to bring home.
