Make Calaway Park your family Playcation Destination this summer! As Western Canada’s Largest Outdoor Family Amusement Park, this popular Calgary summer attraction has been providing joy, excitement and family memories in Alberta for over four decades. I have many of my own fond memories from visiting as a child, and now that I am grown I love taking my own kids for a day of amusement park fun together!
While the 32 different rides are the main attraction at Calaway Park, they are by no means the only thing to look forward to. Our family loves that we can spend the day enjoying a mix of entertainment including 19 carnival games, live shows, mini golf, a maze, the Cinemagic 3D theatre and the Haunted Hotel. There is truly something for everyone!
Our ideal Calaway Park Day usually involves sunshine and a bit of heat. On hot days nothing feels better then being splashed by cool water as you plummet down the Timber Falls log ride, or getting sprayed by the Bumper Boats! For younger kids, Calaway Park also offers the CP Spray n’ Play splash park area to splash around in and cool off when you are needing a break from the rides.
An ice cream cone or frozen treat is another of our favourite ways to cool down on a sunny day and lucky for us there are lots of great options between the 19 different food locations in the park. Everyone’s tastes will be satisfied with the choice of soft serve ice cream, hard ice cream, Mini Melts, sno cones, slushies, and Dole soft serve! Plus enjoy all your other favourite fair foods like pizza, burgers, corn dogs, churros, mini donuts, popcorn, cotton candy, Beaver Tails, and more.
New Experiences for 2024
Riptide Racer is the newest ride option to make a splash and cool down. My kids and I all loved navigating our own rescue boats and making extra waves in the circular pool as we steered in and out!
On stage, Calaway Live will debut two all-new stage shows on June 22, 2024. Happily Ever Laughter is a high energy show featuring fairytale fun with music, dancing, and unexpected laughs. That Funday Feelin’ will bring 20 minutes of summer tunes and good times for the whole family. Catch both shows on the Celebration Square Stage, along with a full schedule of circus acts, magic shows, dancers and other captivating performers throughout the Summer.
Finally, this year’s featured film in the Cinemagic 3D Theatre will join the adventures of plush toy DJ Doggy Dog and his trusty friend Don in Theater of Dreams 3D. Sit back in the air-conditioned theatre to enjoy this whirlwind of imaginative tales fueled by fantasy and friendship!
A trip to Calaway Park can be done as a daytrip from Edmonton, but our family prefers to make a full weekend of it when we are travelling all those miles. A stay at a partner hotel or the Calaway RV Park and Campground are both great options for planning an overnight visit to Calgary. We love that the Calaway RV Park and Campground offers 104 sites and a view of the mountains, and is just a short walk from the park gates. They even have care for your furry family members covered with an on-site kennel to check into while you enjoy your day in the park!

Superheroes are invited to come dressed in their best costume to meet & greet other superheroes and enjoy comic inspired activities! Special guests the Global Pet Foods’ SuperDogs will also be there to perform their 15-minute Pawvenger show and interact with everyone after the show.
WOW Photo Contest
Be sure to capture all the fun moments during your visit and submit your favourite to the WOW Photo Contest! Contest runs from May 18 to October 28, 2024 and includes some great prizes. First prize is an impressive $300 cash and four season passes for the 2025 season!
PLUS Download the Calaway FUN AR app from the Apple Store or Google Play Store for additional magic and memories during your visit. The new virtual park map will help you find your way through the park and to eight unique augmented reality (AR) experiences. See the magical Enchanted Forest come to life, find Maxx the Robot inventing in his workshop, and take enhanced family photos at the two photo stops.
