It was the first powered flight in Canada, and February 23, 1909, marked the beginning of flight in our country. On February 22 – 23, 2025, The Hangar Flight Museum celebrates National Aviation Day, commemorating this exciting historical event all weekend!

The Hangar Flight Museum is home to Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame, which features the true stories of the inspiring men and women who pioneered aviation history in Canada. See aviation history come to life, with many historically significant and technologically intriguing aircraft. Learn the stories of the trailblazers who reached for the impossible and discover the pioneers who adapted aircraft for trade and recreation. Be inspired by the heroes who fought for Canada from the skies or by adventurers who set their sights on outer space. Anyone who dreams of the skies will be inspired here!

National Aviation Day

National Aviation Day marks the day the Silver Dart flew, but The Hangar extends the fun with a full weekend of family activities! On February 22 – 23, 2025, bring the whole crew for a fascinating day out. You’ll see amazing planes, like the Avro Lancaster, deHavilland Vampire, Hawker Hurricane, DC-3, and more.

There will also be tours and presentations for no extra cost. Find 45-minute tours at 11:30 AM and 2 PM and 15-minute presentations at 11 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, and 3 PM. The kids will love the fun activities, like building a flying device!
