Magical lights, delicious treats, and family fun? Sounds like the perfect experience for this holiday season! TELUS Spark Science Centre is bringing back Sparkle Sparkle, an exciting holiday destination for a ‘twinkly, science-inspired experience with all the trimmings.’ It’s time to light things up, brighten your nights, and bring you some sparkle! The darkest winter nights are nearly here, but from December 1, 2022 – January 2, 2023, you can come inside to warm your hearts with Sparkle Sparkle.
Sparkle Sparkle transforms TELUS Spark into a magical holiday celebration, triggering all the best feel-good chemicals in our brains. Get your cameras ready for some amazing photo-ops and science experiments that will transform the science centre into a winter wonderland of holiday magic. Wander through an enchanted winter forest or explore a snowy cave. You’ll find a candy cane lane, a wintery space scape, and so much more to delight the whole family. Don’t forget a sparkling family selfie in one of the amazing illuminated spaces!
There’s so much to do at Sparkle Sparkle! The Digital Immersion Gallery takes you into a bedtime story, where the famous great green room of Goodnight Moon comes to life with an interactive pixel playground. You’ll also find roaming holiday science cheer all over TELUS Spark. Listen for the carolers and marvel at the nutcracker stilt walkers. Catch The Brightest Night on the Inspiration Stage, a live theatre experience set on the International Space Station over the holiday season, with lights, lasers, and (of course) lots of dry ice! Take in holiday-infused science experiments all over the science centre and stay long enough to stop by the Open Studio as it turns into Santa’s Workshop after 5 pm daily, for fun with the elves or the perfect picture with Santa. Also, after 5 pm daily, watch The Alien Who Stole Christmas with the Infinity Dome: Holiday Special! Calgary’s largest 360-degree theatre brings a fun, spacey-sciencey twist to a classic tale.
Is it really the holidays without treats? Enjoy the Astronaut Ice Cream Cafe for ice cream cones that are out of this world or hot holiday drinks, including the Abominable Snowman Mocha or a peppermint latté. Leave time to stop by the Sugar Shack for more sweet treats and a winding enchanted forest nearby with secret places to sit. Let someone else cook dinner, too. After 5 pm, enjoy a delicious savoury special of honey ham, creamy mashed potatoes and a spinach mandarin salad straight from Spark’s in-house chef. And don’t forget to stop by the Spark Store for the perfect science-inspired gift before you leave.
