Kensuke’s Kingdom
From February 7 – March 8, 2025, StoryBook Theatre presents Kensuke’s Kingdom. Based on the best-selling novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted for the stage by dramatist Stuart Paterson, this is an adventure to engage the whole family. Michael was on a round-the-world sailing trip with his family. But things get interesting when he falls overboard and is washed ashore on a Pacific island. This island is populated with orangutans, but it’s also home to one exceptional man. This is Kensuke’s Kingdom.

This highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, explores the story of a peasant girl, Ti Moune, who rescues a wealthy boy from the other side of the island, Daniel, with whom she falls in love. Stakes rise as the gods debate which is stronger: love or death? Will Ti Moane’s devotion win the favour of the people and the gods, or will she pay the ultimate price? Experience this exuberant story that explores what separates societies … and ultimately unites us all.
