2024: Solstice Berry Farm is now permanently closed.
Saskatoon berries, representative of the prairie provinces, are delicious in baking or as a snack. Pack up the family and make the short drive to Solstice Berry Farm, and pick your own this year! Usually, berries are ready between the third week of July and the first week of August, but check the website before you make plans (this is Alberta, after all!). If nothing else, you might find Solstice Berries at a local farmers market.
What to consider:
The farm supplies picking pails for $3, each lined with a plastic bag, and when the bag is full, you can get it weighed for payment. Or you can bring your own picking containers. Be prepared for changing weather conditions. It’s important that you bring a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, good walking shoes, drinking water, and something to cover up with if it cools off or rains. Basic refreshments are for sale, and there is a washroom available.
