What do you get when you combine kitties with a coffee shop? At Regal Cat Café of course! Cat Café’s started in Japan and the trend has spread around the world. The Regal Cat Café invites everyone to come on down for coffee and treats – served with a generous side of cuddles!
If you are not familiar with the concept of a Cat Café, you may wonder what it’s all about. The Regal Cat Café will be divided into two sections; one where patrons can enjoy a full menu of tasty food and beverages, while the other section of the café, separated by a window, is where the cats will frolic in a safe environment. There will be lots of cat toys, walkways and scratching posts to amuse them – and you! Patrons can observe the felines through the window but if they want to get up close and personal, they can pay a nominal fee (which goes toward the cat’s upkeep) to play with the cats. Think of how relaxed you will feel after getting some additional stress relief by spending time in a cozy coffee shop as well as petting a cat for a while!
But this arrangement is not just a “one-sided” arrangement that benefits people – it also benefits the cats. The café’s kitties are specially selected from the Calgary charity the MEOW Foundation and they are all adoptable! So if you find that you get really attached to a cat, you can apply to give it a furr-ever home. Adoption specialists will be on-site to answer any questions and help you through the process of taking home your new friend.
