Hey, Calgary — you still have time to squeeze in one final family adventure this summer! Step into September with RBC Race for the Kids, returning to Heritage Park for a day of active fun that supports child mental health. On September 8, 2024, families of all ages are invited to come out!
Now in its eighth year, RBC Race for the Kids has become Calgary’s biggest family-friendly walk/run event that benefits important mental health programs and services via the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. More than 1,700 gathered last year for what’s become an unofficial goodbye to summer at Calgary’s favourite Historical Village, with activities both inside and outside Heritage Park.
As a family-friendly run, RBC Race for the Kids is designed for everyone. Start times are staggered and families with small kids and strollers can even choose to do their own shorter route within the park. Everyone will enjoy the picturesque 6-km loop around Glenmore Reservoir. Grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and a snack before the race, hydrate at the halfway point, and head into Heritage Park for a pancake breakfast and more fun for everyone after you cross the finish line.
Paid registrants receive an RBC Race for the Kids T-shirt, complimentary parking, an environmentally friendly completion medal, and free, all-day access to Heritage Park. Registration is just $40 for adults and $30 for youth aged 3-17. Children two and under are free. Personal fundraising pages allow all registrants to collect much-needed donations from friends and family. Cool prizes await the top fundraisers and will be awarded after the race.
RBC Race for the Kids is a great way to support youth mental health and soak in the great scenery with family or friends. And if you’re unable to race in person, you can still get involved! Sign up for free as a virtual registrant and walk or run in your own community to raise awareness and funds for child mental health.
