The City of Calgary’s park development and improvement plan wants to improve Calgary’s Parks and Recreation areas and has been undertaking various projects across the city, including Nose Hill Park and Bowness Park. Confederation Park is also part of this improvement plan. As one of the of the biggest and best-loved parks in Calgary, the City wants to make the park even better. This includes improvements to the pathways and pond areas and installing new signage throughout the park. But the best part of these plans are…a brand new playground!
You can see the concept plan for the playground on the Calgary Parks website but Family Fun Calgary has an exclusive sneak peek of what the playground will look like! Earthscape, the Canadian designer and builder for the Confederation Park playground project, incorporates elements of nature into every playground project they create. This particular playground has a distinctly Canadian theme because it is a legacy project for Canada’s 150th birthday.
They also want to encourage children to increase their confidence and imagination through play. Confederation Park’s new playground features a large tower structure:
and a “tipped” canoe. These are both handcrafted out of sturdy and durable wood and will be the perfect backdrop for lots of adventures!
The playground will start to be installed this spring. Its grand opening date has been announced for July 1st–Canada Day! We hope you are as excited for Calgary’s newest playground as we are. Family Fun Calgary will have more photos of the playground when we receive them so that we can share them with you!
