Oh, sweet summer, how I love thee. The warmth of the sun, a good thunderstorm, the long, light evenings, and playing outside. Of course, there’s also the non-stop chaos in my house. “Can we have . . . friends over, another snack, a lemonade stand, screen time?” But Calgary has terrific summer events for families to keep everyone occupied and happy, and July holds so much fun, so get out there and play!

Of course, July starts off with a bang and there are Canada Day celebrations all over Calgary on July 1, 2024. We’ve done our best to compile the ultimate guide to great events all day, with food, fun, and fireworks. (Is this the year you let your kids stay up to watch the fireworks?)

FEATURED | Find a costume and get ready for a SUPER weekend at the Calaway Park Comic Fest for Kids from July 12 – 14, 2024. With special features and activities dedicated to making the Comic Fest weekend unforgettable, you’ll have an out-of-this-world day.
Every Saturday evening in July, the City of Calgary hosts Family Golf Nights, where a paying adult can take juniors golfing for free.
The Calgary Folk Music Festival is July 25 – 28, 2024, for a rich sense of community with the mutual enjoyment of music and other activities. (And there is FREE admission for kids 12 and under!)
Pet-A-Palooza is at the Confluence (formerly Fort Calgary) on July 27 – 28, 2024. This is a free, pet-friendly, family event featuring great events, vendors, and exhibits. It really is a dog’s life!
