Can you hear the train whistle blowing in the distance? Listen for the clatter of the wheels as the train gets closer and wave at the conductor! There’s something magical about trains. Kids love counting the freight cars or excitedly climbing aboard for a unique experience, but the thrill of the rails delights people of all ages. Railway Days are coming to Heritage Park, September 14 – 15, 2024, with an entire weekend dedicated to the park’s collection of historic rolling stock trains. This is your chance to see trains, ride trains, and discover everything you want to know about trains!

What to Expect at Railway Days

You’ll want to mark your calendar, as Railway Days is one of Heritage Park’s most popular annual events. It offers all the fun you’ve come to expect from Heritage Park, plus a wide variety of unique activities that will fascinate rail enthusiasts. Trains take centre stage for two days of demonstrations, hands-on activities, and exciting exhibits. Heritage Park also has an accessible rail car, to open up options for everyone.

Wondering what to expect at Railway Days? See model train displays, tour the cab of an antique steam engine, and catch a rare glimpse of  Heritage Park’s turntable in action. Send telegrams from station to station, ride the handcar, and watch the locomotive take on water. Children can join the Kids’ Railway Challenge for interactive activities and extra engagement. Don’t forget to check out the LEGO display!
