AUArts Summer Camps (Family Fun Calgary)

We all have that spark of creativity. Sometimes we just need to find the right environment to embrace and explore it! Alberta University of the Arts has summer camps for kids and teens, led by professional artists and designers who are passionate about creativity. Here kids and teens are free to try new activities, explore their own ideas, and learn amazing hands-on techniques.

Located in Calgary, Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is about art, craft, and design. Formerly Alberta College of Art & Design, they have been dedicated to innovative and emerging art, craft and design programs for nearly 100 years. It’s the only school of its type in Alberta and is a vibrant community of thinkers, shapers, makers, and risk takers from around the world.

For years, AUArt’s summer camps have engaged and inspired the artists of the future. Placing an early emphasis on creativity also enhances cognitive, social, and emotional development. It promotes self-expression and motor skills. Engaging in art and creative activities allows children and teens to begin to communicate beyond verbal language, letting them subconsciously release feelings or share emotionally charged experiences through visual communication. Your kids will thrive as they try new creative activities in this open and supportive environment.

Kids’ Camps (Ages 9 – 12)

Your child’s imagination will flourish at one of the AUArts theme-based art camps. Professional, fun-loving artists teach kids ages 9 – 12. Kids will love experimenting with a range of traditional or new art media and playing active games. Then they’ll see their art displayed at the Friday afternoon exhibitions!

With so many themes to choose from this summer, your child can dive in and create art that is unique to how they see the world. Watch your child’s imagination grow as they learn to express themselves through art. Camps include Animate it!, Crazy for Cats, Draw Cartoons, Painting Party, and Video Game Crafts.

Camps run from 9 AM – 4 PM and include complimentary before care beginning at 8:30 AM and after care ending at 5 PM. Supplies are included in fees, unless otherwise noted.

Teen Art & Design Camps (Ages 12 – 15)

It can be hard to find camps and courses to engage teens over the summer and help them pursue their passions. AUArts summer camps are ready to help spark your teen’s imagination! With talented creators who enjoy helping teens master new skills, teens can express themselves through a variety of media. Camps include Animation Studio, Ceramics Studio, Drawing Studio, Faces + Figures Studio, RE: Fashion Studio, Manga Studio, Painting Studio, and Photo Studio.

Students work in the same studios that support AUArts’ celebrated degree programs; teens gain exclusive access to the same resources as Alberta’s next generation of professional artists. Teen camps run from 10 AM – 4 PM and supplies are included in fees unless otherwise noted.
